Check your entry route before travelling

Visa exemption does not necessarily mean that you can travel without advance authorisation.

The official immigration portal distinguishes eTA, e-Visa, visa exemptions and applications through an Embassy. Check the conditions for your nationality and passport type, including the purpose and duration of your visit.

Check eligibility on the official portal

Nordic passports: do not assume that all five countries have the same entry arrangements. The 29-country list in Decree No. 10/2023 includes Sweden, Denmark, Finland and Norway, but not Iceland. Consult the current portal rather than relying on the decree alone.

Prepare an Embassy application

This step applies only when your application is handled by the Embassy.

• Follow the document checklist for your visa category.
• Send the application and supporting documents as scanned PDFs to info@embassymozambique.se.
• Include an up-to-date email address and telephone number.
• Do not post your original passport until the Embassy asks you to do so.
• If your route is eTA or e-Visa, submit through the portal instead.

Choose by purpose as well as duration

Tourism, business, work and study have different requirements.

• Tourism: holidays and leisure visits.
• Business: meetings, trade fairs and business contacts.
• Work: employment or professional activity.
• Study: study at an educational institution.
• Diplomatic and official: diplomatic, official or service travel.
• Residence or another purpose: contact the Embassy before gathering documents.

For a stay of 31–90 days, a short work or study visit, a family visit or a change of purpose, confirm the appropriate category. A visa’s validity period is not necessarily the number of days you may stay.

Follow the payment instructions for your route

Online application fees and Embassy service fees are separate.

For an eTA or e-Visa, follow the portal’s payment instructions. For an Embassy visa application, wait for the Embassy’s request for payment. Do not send money based only on a fee table.

Apply well before your travel date. Applications requiring SENAMI authorisation may take longer than the Embassy’s subsequent handling time; urgent handling does not guarantee an immediate decision.
